“So?” One long finger traced the outside of Hakkai’s ear. “I’m supposed to be collecting firewood.”
“But, there’s only weeping willow trees near the lake.” Mouths whispering against each other, breaths mingling. “How are you going to collect kindling or firewood if there are no dead trees around?” A flick of a hot tongue against waiting lips. Night birds began their hunting, their calls echoing around the little lake.

“I’m afraid you’re wrong, Gojyo.” Gonou turned the cards over in his hand. A royal flush. A goddam royal flush.
“No, that’s just not possible!” Gojyo slammed down the cards he had in his hand. They landed face up. “I had four of a kind! Do you know how hard that hand is to get with only one draw? You took one lousy card and you get a royal flush!” Lighting up another cigarette, Gojyo sucked hard on the filter, letting the smoke fill his lungs and hopefully, calm his temper down a bit.

Kenren Taisho could see the black leather item with towels sticking out of the zippered top. And laying by the odd item, there was a rolled up map. Shit. Not another fucking map. That meant one of two things. Either they were going on a mission or Tenpou found something interesting on the map and wanted to show Kenren. Neither option held much interest for Kenren. Tenpou muttered to himself as he zipped up the thing and stuck the map in a side pocket.
